By now the Chevrolet Corvette has cemented itself as the staple all American sports car, a perfect budget option if you do not have Ferrari or Lamborghini money but you do have a pair of jean shorts. But how exactly did the Corvette rise to the top of its food chain, especially in the world of motorsports? Chevy took a page out of Fords book and built a racing program around the Corvette, and just like the Ford GT, they took the Vette to the pinnacle of road racing, the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
