Did Imperial Japan really use biological weapons against China during World War II? Yes. Unit 731, commanded by Shirō Ishii, conducted lethal human experiments involving plague, cholera, anthrax and other pathogens - and Japans biological warfare program went beyond the laboratory. Japanese forces deliberately spread disease in China, including plague-infected fleas and contaminated food and water. The exact death toll remains disputed and may never be known. But after the war, many of the people responsible escaped prosecution. U.S. authorities sought Unit 731s research and shielded Ishii and other senior figures from war-crimes prosecution. In 2002, the Tokyo District Court formally recognized that Imperial Japan had conducted biological warfare in China, while rejecting the plaintiffs demand for compensation. #WW2 #Unit731 #WorldWar2 #History #Shorts
