Directors Statement: News about divided borders continues to dominate headlines, with conflicts such as the war between Russia and Ukraine, the massacre in Gaza, or the construction of the wall between the US and Mexico. Borders are a universal theme that sparks interest worldwide. From these conflicts, we ask ourselves: What would happen in a country of continental dimensions, one of the largest in the world, that overnight decided to split into two, separated by a giant, insurmountable wall? What are the main problems that would afflict the local population? What types of conflicts would be caused by a nation divided in half? This is the starting point of Two Brazils, in which we follow a guerrilla fighter who escaped from prison in the North of the country and is now executing a plan to cross the border and coordinate the resistance forces on the other side in search of reunification. The short film seeks to deconstruct regional stereotypes, showing the complexity and diversity of the Brazilian people, whose identity is formed by cultural mixing and internal migration. We thus challenge the idea that a wall can truly separate a people so united by their history and culture.
