Indonesian nationalists initially welcomed Japans promises of pan-Asianism. But now, these have been shown to be entirely hollow. While Indonesian nationalist leaders continue to support the new occupier, its clear that the country is simply under new colonial management. But the dream of Indonesian independence is still alive and this war will bring that day closer.
