Videos have emerged online of what appears to be a large fire in Moscow late on Tuesday (September 12) night.

A number of small explosions can also be heard in the footage. Clips and images shared online show smoke near the Ostankino Television Tower, part of the Russian TV and Radio Broadcasting Network.

However, officials in Moscow have reportedly claimed the videos show a garbage fire near the Vladykine metro station.

There have also been unconfirmed reports that casualties have been suffered.

In recent weeks, Moscow - and other parts of Russia - has been hit with waves of drone attacks, as the war in Ukraine continues.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has previously said that attacks on Russian territory are an "inevitable, natural and absolutely fair process". In recent weeks, Ukraine is believed to have increased its use of explosive drones to attack targets inside Russia.
