Eidos paid $47.5 million for the company, acquiring Crystal's full backlog of older titles as well as its upcoming lineup, which includes Gex 3, Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver, the Unholy War, and Akuji the Hearthless.
"This acquisition better positions Eidos Interactive as a market leader in the fast growing electronic entertainment industry," said Mike McGarvey, COO of Eidos Interactive.
Eidos expects to put its marketing and distribution muscle behind Crystal's upcoming releases. Otherwise, it is expected Crystal's studio staff will continue their current work without change. Rob Dyer, president of Crystal Dynamics, joins Eido's management team.
