WINCHESTER, Tenn. -- A veteran skydiving from a plane is injured today in a Memorial Day weekend event mishap in Franklin County, Tennessee.
The incident occurred during the opening ceremony of "Red, White and YOU" celebration at at the Winchester City Park Saturday around 5 p.m. FOX 17 News cameras were rolling when he became entangled in power lines.
The unidentified man was airlifted to the hospital. He suffered non-life threatening injuries, even giving a thumbs up after he fell to the ground.
Wind appears to have carried the skydiver off course.
More than 3,000 people, including hundreds of veterans, attended the event that featured the Traveling Vietnam Memorial Wall, a boat parade and a patriotic light show with Lee Greenwood who spoke with FOX 17 News...
Donations collected at the free event went to five area Veterans organizations.
