State police leads missing Skelton brothers investigation

The Michigan State Police takes over an unsolved case for three missing brothers who went missing Thanksgiving 2010 in Morenci.Officials released a statement explaining the "available resources" at the Michigan State Police will help the case "move forward no matter how long it takes to solve."

"This case is one of the most significant unsolved cases in Michigan," said Lt. Sean Furlong of the MSP in a prepared statement. "Having the case at the MSP will ensure it receives the continued attention it deserves."The disappearances of 9-year-old Andrew, 7-year-old Alexander and 5-year-old Tanner Skelton sparked a search after their mother, Tanya Zuvers, reported them missing three years ago. The boys had been last seen in their father's backyard.READ: Missing Skelton brothers case profiled on national TVTheir father, John Skelton, claims he didn't harm his sons and gave them to a friend to protect them. Skelton is serving a 10 to 15 year sentence for unlawful imprisonment. Earlier in October, his fellow inmate, Robert Jamison, 50, plead guilty to lying to investigators while in jail about the boys' disappearance.

The Morenci Police Department and FBI will act as investigative partners in the case.The public is asked to provide any tips or information to the MSP at www.Michigan.gov/michtip or by calling 1-855-642-4847.
